About Us
玮希成立于2010年，由国家级长沙经济技术开发区携手新加坡玮仕集团举办创立，是湖南省唯一一所由国家教育部批准设立的国际学校，也是湖南省唯一一所以英语为第一教学语言的K12学校。
学校开设幼儿园、小学、初中、高中四个学段的纯正国际课程，为来自全球的外籍学生提供优质国际教育服务。
Changsha WES Academy was founded in 2010. It was jointly established by the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee and WES Group of Singapore. It is the only international school in Hunan Province approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). It is also the only K12 school in Hunan Province that uses English as its primary language of instruction. Currently, Changsha WES Academy covers four educational stages: Early Years, Primary, Lower Secondary, and High School, providing quality international education services to foreign students from around the world.

Overview of the Department
玮希国际高中开设剑桥IGCSE、剑桥A-Level、国际课程文凭组织IBDP、IBCP等主流国际高中课程，为有志于入读国外大学的高中学生提供丰富的课程选择、有力的背景支持和专业的升学指导服务，以确保每一位学生都能根据自身的兴趣、特长和规划入读各自理想的大学。
自2018年首届高中毕业生走出玮希走向全球，我们已经有众多毕业生进入到全球top50大学就读，毕业后进入全球知名企业工作。
2021、2022、2023、2024四届毕业生90%以上获得QS全球综合排名前30或专业排名前10大学录取。
2025届毕业生均已获得目标院校的正式录取。牛津大学、帝国理工学院等顶级名校的录取100%达Con。
The high school department of Changsha WES Academy offers mainstream international high school programs such as Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge A-Level, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), and International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP). It provides a wide range of course options, strong background support, and professional college counseling services for high school students who aspire to study abroad, ensuring that each student can pursue their ideal university based on their own interests, strengths, and plans.
Since the first graduating class in 2018 walked out of WES and embarked on a global journey, we have had numerous graduates admitted to top 50 universities worldwide and secured positions in top companies upon graduation.
More than 90% of the graduates of the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023 have been admitted to the top 30 universities in the QS Global comprehensive ranking or the top 10 universities in their majors.
2025 graduates have all received official offers from their target universities. All conditional offers from top institutions such as the University of Oxford and Imperial College London have been fully met (100% offer fulfillment rate).

WES International High School provides a comprehensive university guidance program spanning all four grade levels (G9–G12). The counseling team establishes an individual growth portfolio for each student, tracking their academic performance, personal interests, skill development, and participation in extracurricular and social activities.
From early-stage interest exploration and major selection to later academic enhancement, competition planning, personal statement guidance, and interview preparation, the school offers one-on-one, full-process support for every student.

WES International has a diverse international teaching team, with over 60% of the educators coming from overseas. These teachers possess extensive experience and strong professional qualifications. They guide students in an immersive English-language environment, helping them understand and embrace a variety of cultural perspectives and gain a truly global learning experience. This is further strengthened by Chinese language and EAL teachers. Moreover, each class has two homeroom teachers: one international teacher and one native teacher, ensuring the development of multiple languages throughout our school.

Curriculum
IGCSE（G9-G10阶段）
在9年级和10年级，学生将学习一系列均衡且具有挑战性的课程，最终参加剑桥国际考试局（Cambridge International）提供的国际普通中等教育证书考试（IGCSE）。该课程体系基于英国的普通中等教育证书（GCSE），学生通常在16岁时通过多个学科的考试，为后续的专业化学习做好准备。学校目前（根据课程开设情况）提供的IGCSE科目包括：英语一语/英语二语；数学/加数；中文一语/中文二语；联合科学；全球视野；选修（音乐、艺术、商科、经济、地理）。
In Grade 9 and Grade 10, students follow a range of balanced and demanding courses leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) offered by Cambridge International. This system is based on the British General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) where students are examined in a broad range of subjects at the age of sixteen, prior to later specialisation.
Based on the current curriculum offerings, the IGCSE subjects provided by the school include: English as a First Language / English as a Second Language; Mathematics / Additional Mathematics; Chinese as a First Language; Combined Science; Global Perspectives; Electives (Music, Art, Business, Economics, Geography).
IBDP（G11 - G12阶段）
完成IGCSE课程后，学生可以在多个课程体系中进行选择。其中一项可供11年级和12年级学生选择的课程是国际文凭大学预科项目（IBDP）。IBDP注重学术发展，学生需跨多个学科领域学习六门课程，包括中文和英文（作为第一语言或附加语言）、数学和科学等。IBDP注重学术的广度，同时倡导“全人教育”理念。如今，越来越多的世界顶尖大学高度认可IBDP，因其不仅关注学生学到了什么，更关注学生如何学习以及他们所秉持的价值观。
After IGCSEs, students have the choice between various curricula. One of the choices open to students in Grade 11 and 12 is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The IBDP is academically focused and students’ study six subjects across a number of different disciplines, including Chinese and English (either as a First Language or Additional Language) as well as Mathematics and Science. The IBDP rewards academic breadth and encourages a ‘whole person’ education. The IBDP is increasingly appreciated by top-tier universities who are increasingly more concerned with how students learn and what values students hold.
A-Level（G11 - G12阶段）
11年级至12年级学生还可以选择英国高阶普通中等教育证书课程（A-Level）。A-Level课程具有较强的学术性，学生可在多个学科中进行专精学习。玮希国际高中部的学生通常选择3到4门学科进行学习。学校目前（根据课程开设情况）提供的A-Level科目包括：中文、商业研究、经济学、生物、化学、物理、数学、高等数学等。多样的A-Level课程设置为学生提供了丰富的个性化选择路径。A-Level成绩也广泛受到世界顶尖大学的认可。

The International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) is an option available to students in Grades 11 and 12. While the IBDP allows for academic breadth, the IBCP allows for academic specialisation in a number of different career-related fields. Changsha WES Academy High School offers the IBCP, focusing on Art-with fields, which is supported by the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in the United States. The IBCP is increasingly recognised by career-focused universities for embedding important professional skills in students.

CAS has long been one of the three cores required of students in the IBDP, and serves as a beacon of values for the IB curriculum, not only helping students develop as unique individuals and providing them with opportunities to explore their personal interests and reflect their passions, personalities and perspectives. It also gives students the opportunity to have more fun and see beyond their studies.

Students receive targeted guidance and encouragement throughout their time in High School. Research-based extracurricular activities are particularly important. High School's dedicated Higher Education team, homeroom teachers, and subject teachers mentor students through all stages of the university application process including assistance with the UCAS Personal Statement, essay questions on Common App, and the writing of individually-tailored references, both academic and personal, to ensure that our students have the best chance of attracting high quality offers.
